Virginia - Financial Relief for Family Caregivers
 
 

Acts, Inc. Emergency Assistance - provides assistance with food, clothing, and furniture; emergency financial assistance with rent, and utilities and prescriptions. Serves residents of Eastern Prince William County. Referrals are not required. Contact them at 703-221-3186.    

Alexandria Division of Social Services - offers financial benefits for caregivers of Children and Adolescents with Disabilities. Call 703-838-0700.

Alleghany Highlands Community Service Board - Mental Retardation - offers a variety of services to support all individuals with mental retardation, developmental delays and developmental disabilities. Services include assessment, referral, monitoring, advocacy, 24 hour respite care, and limited financial assistance for other programs. Call 540-863-1620.    

AMEN (Arlingtonians Ministering to Emergency Needs) - offers emergency financial assistance service to Arlington residents who need help due to some unforeseen circumstances. Contact them at 703-558-0035. 

Appalachian AIDS Coalition, Inc. - offers various support services for individuals with AIDS/HIV in Southwest Virginia. Services include information and referral, support groups and financial assistance for dental, medical, transportation expenses and medication expenses. Contact them at 540-889-7621. 

Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare - Family Support - offers financial support to assist families in caring for a family member with a disability, or to improve the quality of life for the disabled family member. Eligibility requirements to receive service are that a family member who lives at home must be mentally retarded and emotionally disturbed, or mentally retarded and physically handicapped. Echo - provides food, financial assistance, medical services, clothing, and meals on wheels services. Contact them at 703-569-9160. 

Family Support Grant - provides a combination of assistance and services for families who are residents of Norfolk and provide care at home for their family members with mental retardation or developmental delay. Contact them at 757-441-5300.    

Link, Inc. - provides food and food certificates, furniture, and limited financial assistance. Referrals from congregations or other social services agencies required for financial assistance. Serves residents of the Herndon and Sterling extended areas. Call 703-437-1776.  

Lorton Community Action Center - provides food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, and information and referral. Referrals from social service agencies preferred. Proof of address required. Call 703-339-5161.    

New River Valley AIDS Coalition - offers a variety of support services including case management, support groups, financial assistance for prescription, medical bills, housing and utilities, and other emergency assistance services for individuals with HIV/AIDS and their families. Contact them at 540-381-5473.    

Prince William County Department of Social Services - Financial - provides assistance and offers a number of different financial assistance programs available to families and individuals who find themselves in financial need. Call them at 703-792-7500.    

Serve, Inc. - provides financial assistance, childcare, emergency and/or monthly food packet to the families in need. Limited delivery to disabled and elderly. Serves Western Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park. Residency identification is required. Call 703-368-3612. 

United Way of Central Virginia - offers a variety of services such as financial assistance for rent or utilities, emergency services, legal assistance, mental health services and information and referrals to local service agencies and other services. Contact them at 434-846-8467.   

Consumer Services Fund - Department of Rehabilitation Services - people with physical or sensory disabilities can access this fund after exhausting all other resources. This fund is for children or adults, request has to be disability specific. Applications are usually filled out by an "advocate" and are reviewed on a quarterly basis. Family Services Consumer Credit Counseling of Tidewater Emergency Fund - provides financial assistance to residents of Tidewater area. Call 757-625-2227.  

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Virginia Chapter - the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society offers information and financial aid to patients who have leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, or multiple myeloma. Reimburses up to $500 a year to patients for transportation, chemotherapy drugs, transfusions, and testing not covered by insurance or other sources. Operation Blessing International - provides limited financial assistance for rent or mortgage payments, emergency needs in situations of catastrophic loss (fire, flood, earthquake), utility bills (water, electricity, gas). Requests will only be considered if a letter is attached from a pastoral or agency representative. Payments will be sent directly to the creditor. Call 757-245-7376.
