Connecticut Department of
Social Services State-Administered General Assistance - (SAGA)
- provides cash and medical assistance to eligible individuals
and families who do not have enough money to meet basic needs.
If you live in Norwich you are not eligible unless you
previously received SAGA cash or medical benefits. If you never
received SAGA, you should apply for General Assistance at the
City of Norwich Social Services office. Call 860-823-3778 for
more information.
ConnTRANS - Connecticut
Program for Organ Transplant Recipients (ConnTRANS) is a
fund to help residents of Connecticut pay for medical and
ancillary expenses associated with an organ transplant. Checks
are issued directly to the transplant patient for payments such
as transportation, insurance premiums, etc. You can get an
application by contacting your hospital's transplant unit or
social service department, or by calling the Connecticut
Department of Social Services, Adult Support and Disability

Cancer Care -
provides local financial assistance to help people with all
cancers in Connecticut. Financial help is available for
transportation, pain medications, home care, and child care. For

Private Fuel Funds -
there are non-federal dollars available from local fuel funds,
obtained from others throughout the state of Connecticut who make
contributions into this fund when paying their own utility bill.
Ask the state energy assistance office for the local phone
number of the fuel fund nearest you, or go to
www.nationalfuelfunds.org. You can also contact

how to qualify for financial assistance regarding your fuel

The Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society - Connecticut Chapter - offers information and
financial aid to patients who have leukemia, non-Hodgkin
lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, or multiple myeloma. Reimburses up
to $500 a year to patients for transportation, chemotherapy
drugs, transfusions, and testing not covered by insurance or
other sources.
