My husband has Parkinson’s and one of his feet is
becoming deformed.
It seems quite noticeable now and I
wonder if there is something that can help him with his
walking. He is using a cane and a walker.
Are there special shoes that would be more supportive for
him or at least support his ankles better?

Ask his doctor for the name of a Podiatrist! This doctor, along with an orthipedist, should be able to work with your "Honey," to help him stabilize his gait. <:)))><

I was the caretaker for my Dad. I often told his neurologist (the one doctor that really listened) that if he had more leg/ankle support I think he would do better. The dr. set us up with a place that specializes in prosthesis - but they made a cast of his feet and then made a plastic brace - it went to the ball of his foot - underside - up the back of his heel and 3/4 up his calf. We then purchased heavy duty walking shoes that velcro closed. It helped better than I hoped. He was still somewhat wobbly, mind you. But he felt secure. Dr. Garrett also put a few Botox injections in his feet and that helped the first couple of times but not for long and not enough to endure the Botox injections. Dad was a fighter! You may also want to try the over the counter ankle supports - they very flexible and also velcro - we used those as well. My Dad could never "walk" alone - I steadied him with a gait belt and he used a walker (no wheels) - but at least it gave him the opportunity to get up and stir around a little. We would circle the inside of the house - started off with one circle and we built up to 5 circles around the house. He was so proud! Small goals that were attainable. We never stopped searching for answers! I think the Parkinson's support group kept the caretakers sane and we got some great ideas. We took Dad sometimes because he could explain things so much better. Also, inquire about neuropathy medication - it can calm down the bottom of the feet if those are bothering him as well.
God bless you!!! Been there - praying for y'all during your journey!
