I read your caregiver test and I have a question. My spouse was
diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer's in '96. I took care of her
for 12 years at home, until the dementia got worse and I couldn't handle
her anymore.
Now, how do you become a caregiver for the
caregiver when all your thoughts and energy are spent trying to keep her
happy and comfortable in the assisted living facility?
I visit her every day at lunchtime as she no longer feeds herself.
Any thoughts on this?
Bob

Bob,
I have been a caregiver for my husband, who has a dementia illness, for many years. I have found great help, friendship, understanding and emotional support with other spousal caregivers at the Well Spouse Assn. Visit www.wellspouse.org. There are local support groups in many parts of the country, as well as a very active online forum to chat online with other spousl caregivers. Please take a look at it, and I wish you peace!
