I am not sure where to turn now. My
husband has a few health problems and is on
disability now. We also have a 9 month
old baby girl. I left my job in March
because he can no longer be on his own, he
can still do limited things, house work,
yard work but has to have someone with him.
He has seizures, and asthma. At first
it was not that bad but we have gone through
our savings and the disability he gets is
not enough to cover all the bills.
Is there anything out there that would help
us so I can stay home with him and take care
of him? I just don't know what else to do
now.

I'm so sorry you have had to deal with this situation at such a young age with a baby and husband to take care of now. But sympathy doesn't help pay the bills. Not sure if you're ready to file for state assistance but I would call your local county's family services and find out if there's some resources there you can use. If you do qualify for state assistance, they have trained caregivers that can come to your home and stay with him for a few hours so you can get away from the caregiver role. Find a daycare center for him and let him act as a volunteer there. You might also find a sitter for the baby for a few hours so you and your husband can get away and be a couple. Ask your church family to assist you if possible. Hope this helps.

All States have an office of Long Term Living or Area Agencies on Aging go to your state's website, search for the agency for your county. Most have subdized "family Caregiver"programs. Rather than have the state provide a caregiver or @ h a contracted agency, they can arrange for you to receive the value of the services that -your husband qualifies for, so that you can provide for his care. Have you considered getting someone to come in to keep an eye on your husband while you're at work? Staying home with him may be what you want, but it may not solve your economic problems. You didn't say what type of seizures your husband has, but if you contact one of the epilepsy organizations, you may very well find answers to your situation. With a 9 month old baby to care for, this has to be very trying for you. I wish you the very best and hope that you receive the answer you need.
