This Week's Carenote - 11/26/08
My 74 year old
mother is a recovering
alcoholic and severely depressed. She
lives alone for now but I know
very soon she is going to need some help. She is becoming more
and more depressed and wants to see no one. She
is very independent and it
will be difficult to
convince her that she
needs help. I have no idea where
to begin caring for her in a way that will not push her
deeper into depression.
Any help would
be appreciated.

CommentsHello I read your letter, and I would just like to say that trying to just be there like a friend and daughter would be great for her,
even though she may not want the company. It's hard to give up your independence and just having that person there maybe will help her when it is time for her to have a companion!
