This Week's Carenote - 09/25/08
My husband of 40 years is
not well at all. I try
to take care of him as best
I can. Our children just
don't get it.
He is now at the point
where he does not want me to
go anywhere. If I am
in a different room than he is,
he gets angry.
He has gotten very verbally
abusive and I'm afraid of
what will happen next. Not
so much what he will do to
me, but what I might do to
him. I am just about
to give up.
Can you give me any advice?

CommentsSounds like you really need some help. I understand as not only a professional but as a family member that has been the primary caregiver of my Mom, Dad and an invalid sister. You need to seek help with your Department of Human Services, Area on Aging. If, they are not helpful call the Adult Protective Services. This agency maybe able to help you. I have found the services that I have mentioned above so helpful. You need at least respite care it sounds like.
