CommentsSo sorry to hear about this additional burden you and
your mother must now deal with. There is much being done in diabetes research,
and some of the newer approaches suggest that nothing need be completely
eliminated from the diet, rather that portion control and balance in intake need
to be maintained. It will take some homework on your part, but may be worth the
effort if it turns out that your mom can continue to enjoy some of the things
that give her pleasure. Sorry I don't have specific references for you (have
been dealing with the Alzheimer's in this equation) but I'd contact the national
organization, local support groups and scour the local book store for the latest
work published. Also make sure that your mother's doctor is a specialist in this
field and is open to not only your questions but new ideas! Good luck. My heart
