Ninth Anniversary Caregiver Friendly Awards

What do wandering alert systems, telehealth monitoring systems, caregiver television programs, medication tracking systems and online health diary systems all have in common? These are descriptions of some of our Caregiver Friendly Award winners from the past eight years. They also represent thousands of hours of loving labor by their producers and manufactures, all working with one thought in common, “What can I do to help the life of the family caregiver become easier?”

Every year, we are truly impressed by the quality of the entries into the award program; but what I am most excited about is the wide variety of industries that are now sending in entries and the incredible work they are producing with family caregivers in mind. This year, once again we look forward to presenting great works of even more creative minds dedicated to solving the challenges we face as family caregivers. Traveling long distances with a person in the early stage of dementia may still be quite enjoyable. As dementia advances, however, traveling becomes unpredictable as the person becomes more confusing. Plan ahead for a trip by gathering important documents: insurance cards, passports, your physician's phone number, refills on medications and a copy of medical records in case the person with dementia needs to see a physician while away. I am an elderly caregiver. I just finished your book The Fearless Caregiver; very interesting. I found it most helpful. But I have a question. I work for a lady three days a week and have been her caregiver for almost three years. Lately, she has been so hateful to me. I have bent over backwards for her and have done nothing to her to be treated like this. What should I do? I would appreciate your opinions.
