My dad is 92 years old and
suffers from dementia. He now
lives in a Nursing Home and they
take pretty good care of him.
He and my Mom were married for 65
years before she suddenly passed
away 2 years ago at age 90.
Dad is still grieving terribly
over his loss, and each time we
visit, he will talk about the old
times and then suddenly asks for
Mom. It's like he forgets and
we have to tell him all over again
that she passed away, and then he
starts the grieving process all over
again like it was yesterday.
It is as if he gets sadder and
sadder with each passing day.
The nurses at the Home try their
best to deal with it when he gets
like that but seeing him so sad
affects everyone.
How do we approach it so that
some of his sadness will go away? It
might not go away, but how do we
lessen the effect, so that it does
not get any worse?
